Alice Handelman, BJ ’65, Honored by Missouri Professional Communicators

Columbia, Mo. (May 8, 2017) — Ladue News contributor Alice Handelman, BJ ’65, was honored by Missouri Professional Communicators with three awards in its 2017 Communications Contest. The awards were presented at the MPC Spring Connect luncheon April 22 at the St. Louis Artists Guild.

MPC is an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women. Handelman’s articles were printed in 2016 in The Ladue News. She won first place for her print-based feature story, “Santa’s Helpers Makes Season Bright.” Handelman was awarded first place for two specialty articles (hobby or craft): “Honing Her Craft,” and “Bridging the Gap.” She won second place for specialty articles (education) for “Jumping Off Point,” and “Character Counts.”

Handelman is past president of the St. Louis Press Club, Women of Achievement and the Mideast Area Agency on Aging Foundation. She was community relations director at Jewish Center for Aged for 18 years and a feature writer for the St. Louis Blues for 10 years.
