Journalism Faculty selected for prestigious Mizzou Fellows programs

Faculty members from the Missouri School of Journalism have been selected to participate in three university-wide professional development programs at the University of Missouri, supporting their leadership, scholarship, and growth as educators. The programs are administered by the MU Provost’s Office, with the Arts & Humanities Research and Creative Works Fellows Program jointly administered by the Division of Research, Innovation & Impact.

“These programs are an important investment in our faculty’s growth and leadership,” said David Kurpius, dean of the Missouri School of Journalism. “We’re proud of these scholars and educators—from journalism and strategic communication to emerging interdisciplinary fields—who are helping shape the future of media, communication, and our academic community.”

Arts & Humanities Research and Creative Works Fellows Program

Robert Greene and Chau Tong were selected for the Arts & Humanities Fellows Program, which provides two years of support for faculty in the arts and humanities. Participants receive mentoring, course release funds, writing retreat access, and resources for research development.

Greene is an associate professor and filmmaker-in-chief at the Murray Center for Documentary Journalism. He is known for his award-winning films and his commitment to innovative storytelling. Tong is assistant professor in journalism and the Institute for Data Science & Informatics. Her research uses computational and data-driven approaches to explore how digital technologies shape communication and information access.

LEAP Fellows Program

Tracy Draksler Brown has been selected for the 2025–2027 LEAP (Learning and Expanding Abilities for Professoriate) Fellows Program. LEAP supports assistant professors in their early academic careers through workshops, mentoring, and resources focused on teaching, research, and professional development.

Draksler Brown is an assistant professor in strategic communication with more than two decades of experience in advertising and agency leadership. She joined the School in 2024.

Provost Leadership Program

Elizabeth Frogge

Elizabeth Frogge and Keith Greenwood were selected for the Provost Leadership Program (PLP), which prepares faculty for academic leadership roles through seminars, panel discussions, and mentorship.

Frogge is a professor and managing editor at KOMU-TV, where she helps guide daily newsroom operations and student reporting. Greenwood is an associate professor of photojournalism and co-director of the McDougall Center for Photojournalism Studies, focusing on visual journalism history and preservation.

These recognitions highlight the School’s ongoing commitment to excellence in faculty development, leadership, and innovation.
