Patricia Smith Elected to International Press Institute Executive Board

Vienna (Sept. 24, 2010) — Patricia Smith, managing editor of Global Journalist magazine published by the Missouri School of Journalism, was named to the executive board of the International Press Institute in IPI’s 59th General Assembly Sept. 13.
The Assembly also elected four other new board members: Owais Aslam Ali, chairman of Pakistan Press International; Linus Gitahi, group CEO of Kenya’s Nation Media Group; Patricia Santa Marina, corporate and public affairs director of Grupo Infobae in Argentina; and Ken MacQuarrie, director of BBC Scotland.
Smith’s journalism career includes editing, reporting, writing, art directing and designing for newspapers, magazines and nonprofits. She teaches the international magazine staff class.

The publication reports on press freedom around the world, covers developments in international journalism and serves international journalists.
