Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis, Journalism Foundation Award Scholarships to Four Missouri Journalism Students
Columbia, Mo. (Aug. 2, 2011) — Matt Beezley of Fenton, Mo., received the $5,000 Press Club/St. Louis Post-Dispatch David Lipman Scholarship at the Missouri School of Journalism during a summer gathering of the Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis and Journalism Foundation. The annual scholarship was established in 2009 in memory of David Lipman, BJ ’53, a longtime reporter and editor for the paper. Beezley, a print and digital news student, is an assistant city editor at the Columbia Missourian.
The group awarded several other scholarships to promote the study of journalism by St. Louis-area college students.
Julia Boudreau of Chesterfield was the recipient of the $5,000 Press Club Media Scholarship. A magazine journalism major with a minor in English, she served a summer internship at the Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis. Boudreau also was recognized with an additional $1,000 scholarship awarded by the Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis for her summer internship with Press Club.
Katherine Moritz of Kirkwood was awarded the Missouri Professional Communicators Journalism Foundation Scholarship. A print and digital news student, she interned at The Capital, the daily newspaper of Annapolis, Md.
Allison Prang of Carol Stream, Ill., also received a $1,000 Press Club scholarship. She interned at the St. Louis Beacon during the summer and plans to study watchdog journalism and minor in political science.
