Strategic Communication Students Plan Spirit of ’76 Customer Appreciation Event
Columbia, Mo. (April 4, 2018) — Students at the Missouri School of Journalism planned and will execute the Spirit of ’76 Fireworks customer appreciation event on April 7 at the Isle of Capri Casino in Boonville. The event will showcase the newest firework lines available at Spirit of ’76 for the summer.
Led by instructor Melanie Forrest, strategic communication students in the PR Events and Promotion class began the planning process in January and have handled every detail of the event. Using the theme – “The Spirit of Pop” – the students create everything from coordinating décor and entertainment to creating the budget to promoting the event through digital strategy.
“PRI-MO Events had very creative ideas that tied in with our business and brand,” said James Rhinehart, Spirit of ’76 marketing director, about the class. “The planning and production provided by PRI-MO Events really elevated our event and made it an engaging experience for our customers. Their members showed exceptional creativity, professionalism, and went to great lengths to keep us under budget.”
The agency is structured around four teams: Production, Design and Decor, Entertainment and Strategy. Each team of students was responsible for communicating with Rhinehart about responsibilities related to the client’s goals.
“Working for PRI-MO Events has given me a chance to practice many of the skills I learned from the journalism school in a real-world environment,” said PRI-MO Strategy Coordinator Shane Kjellenberg. “I can’t wait to see all of our hard work pay off during the event.”
Guests at the “Spirit of Pop” event will receive a catered dinner, gift bags and experience a firework demo show at the end of the evening. For more information about the event, please visit the Spirit of ’76 Fireworks Facebook page.
