Walter Williams Scholars Awards (Missouri residents)
Once you apply and are admitted to the University of Missouri as a journalism major, the School of Journalism provides automatic merit based awards to Missouri residents. Award details listed below apply to first-time college freshmen entering Fall 2024.

*Please note Walter Williams Scholars Awards will appear on your financial aid status page as a different journalism scholarship named for one of the many generous alumni and friends who provide gifts and endowments to help the next generation of journalists and strategic communicators with the cost of higher education.
These merit based awards may be combined with other automatic MU Awards and are renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) provided students remain in good academic standing in the School of Journalism. (3.0 cumulative GPA or higher)
