Recent Advertising Graduate Selected for Northern India Program
Columbia, Mo. (May 16, 2005) — Jonathon Coulson, BJ ’05, is one of 12 students nationwide who has been selected to travel in northern India for three weeks this summer through the American Institute of Indian Studies.
Coulson received his bachelor’s degree from the Missouri School of Journalism last week, graduating magna cum laude with an emphasis in advertising. He will review art, culture, religious institutions, socioeconomics and daily life in the cities of Agra, Ajmer, Dehli and Lucknow.
“We’re delighted that Jonathon has been selected for this honor, and we know he’ll make the most of the experience,” said Margaret Duffy, Advertising Department chair.
Coulson, of Troy, Ill., also received a minor in linguistics and an honors certificate. This fall he plans to begin his master’s studies at the School, focusing on the role that blogs play in advertising and public relations. In addition, Coulson would like to pursue a law certificate in conflict resolution.
As an undergraduate, Coulson served as chair for the Honors College Ambassadors, vice president of communication for the Advertising Club, vice chair of the Speakers Committee of the Department of Student Affairs, a teaching assistant for the Strategic Design and Visual Communications course and chair of strategy and communication for NORML/SSDP.
