School to Host Open House During MU’s Family Weekend
Presentations, Classes, Tours and More Will Be Available on Friday, Sept. 23
Columbia, Mo. (Sept. 14, 2016) — The Missouri School of Journalism will host an open house on Friday, Sept. 23, for students in journalism and their families. The event is held in conjunction with Family Weekend, sponsored by the University of Missouri.
A variety of classes, presentations and self-guided activities will be available. Guests can pick up a list of options in the reception area of the Reynolds Journalism Institute. Refreshments will be served.

- Convergence Reporting. Topic will be how to make a non-visual story visual. Jamie Greber, managing editor, KOMU-TV, will be the speaker.

- Introduction to Strategic Writing and Design: Families are invited to join this class as they critique ads.

- Getting Settled: The fall semester is off to a great start. Associate Dean Lynda Kraxberger and representatives from Journalism and Communication Learning Communities and Freshman Interest Groups will share highlights of the first few weeks.
- Getting Ready: Registration for the spring 2017 semester begins in October. Journalism adviser Pete Ozias will share how the registration process works and helpful hints for those registering for classes for the first time as a new on-campus student.
- Getting Involved: Students have dozens of ways to get involved in campus journalism and strategic communication activities. Representatives from various groups will share their plans for the year.
