Missouri Journalism Students and Faculty Earn More Than 590 Awards, Honors and Other Recognitions During Recent Academic Year

Columbia, Mo. (July 31, 2017) — Missouri School of Journalism students, faculty and staff earned more than 590 awards, honors and recognitions during the 2016-17 academic year. The awards comprise scholarly achievements, as well as professional work by students and staff in the School’s real-world newsrooms and agencies.

The School’s scholars and researchers were recognized by leading journalism and communication organizations, including the International Communication Association and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.

Hearst Journalism Awards Program
Often called “the Pulitzers of college journalism,” the Hearst program holds year-long competitions in writing, photojournalism, broadcast news and multimedia for journalism undergraduates.

Among the many student and staff awards were top awards and scholarships from the American Advertising Federation, the American Copy Editors Association, the Hearst Journalism Awards Program and several National Edward R. Murrow Awards. Only honors that were selected in competitions sponsored by outside organizations or those external to the School are included in the list.
