Yang Cheng Wins Inez Kaiser Graduate Students of Color Award
She Focuses Her Doctoral Research on Organization-Public Relationship Measurement
Columbia, Mo. (June 26, 2015) — Yang Cheng is one of three recipients of the Inez Kaiser Graduate Students of Color Award, sponsored by the Public Relations Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. Cheng is a doctoral student at the Missouri School of Journalism.
The award honors Inez Kaiser, the first African-American woman to belong to the Public Relations Society of America and to head a public relations agency with national clients. The Inez Kaiser Graduate Students of Color Awards is supported by a diversity grant from the PRSA Foundation. The 2015 winners were selected from a pool of 20 applicants.
Cheng and the other award recipients will receive free one-year memberships to AEJMC and the Public Relations Division as well as travel and lodging at the AEJMC national conference. In addition, recipients will be assigned a Public Relations Division mentor and participate in recommended sessions at the AEJMC national conference. The total amount of each award is $1,260.
Cheng’s research focus is on organization-public relationship measurement.
Earlier this year, Cheng won 2015 Peter Debreceny Corporate Communication Award, given by the International Public Relations Research Conference. She was also named the 2015 Institute of Public Relations Grunig PRIME Research Fellow.
