Doctoral students who demonstrate financial need will receive scholarship support from the journalism school. To be considered for a scholarship, please provide the graduate studies office with an updated FAFSA form. International students need to provide a journalism financial aid application for international students, which is available in the graduate studies office. Students need to provide an updated form each year they are in enrolled in the program.
Scholarship monies are available upon completion of the registration process. Registration in a minimum of nine credits of coursework is required for all scholarship recipients. In order to qualify for the spring semester scholarship check, a recipient must have successfully completed the fall semester and enroll for a minimum of nine hours of coursework for the spring semester.
Scholarship payments are made at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. The scholarship amount is applied towards each student’s account, and the remaining balance, if any, is paid to the student. Students need to arrange for the MU cashiers office to directly deposit the funds into their account in order to receive scholarships. This can be done through myZou in the following manner:
- Go to the “Student Center” in the myZou self-service pages.
- Scroll down to the “Finance” section.
- Click on the “Manage Direct Deposit” link.
Please note that this is a different direct deposit process than one for payroll. The payroll office and the cashiers office are separate operations, and students need fill out two different forms, one for each office.
