Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and Administration
Journalism Professions
Professor120 Neff Missouri School of Journalism Columbia, MO 65211-1200
LYNDA KRAXBERGER serves as the associate dean for Undergraduate Studies and Administration where she oversees advising services, curriculum development, recruitment and retention as well as teaching and learning for more than 1600 undergraduate students at the Missouri School of Journalism.
Lynda has organized school-wide diversity and inclusion workshops and recently completed workplace integrity training with the national Power Shift Project. The Power Shift Project is a national industry-wide initiative to improve the quality and future of journalism by improving the diversity, equity and culture of news organizations. The Project’s goal is Workplace Integrity, defined as environments free of harassment, discrimination and incivility — and filled with opportunity, especially for those who have traditionally been denied it.
Lynda was among the first faculty members in the School of Journalism to teach HTML coding and website development. That knowledge set the stage for the first “converged” journalism curriculum in the U.S. that is now integrated into curriculum for all journalism and strategic communication students entering the school.
For three decades, Lynda coached students in television reporting and producing, and later multi-platform and multimedia storytelling for distribution through the Missouri School of Journalism’s professional news organizations: the Columbia Missourian, NPR member-station KBIA-FM and NBC affiliate, KOMU-TV.
Lynda’s roots as a newscast producer at KCNC-TV in Denver and WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Fla., shaped her interest in visual storytelling. Kraxberger joined the faculty at Missouri as the executive producer of KOMU-TV. She has received numerous awards including the University of Missouri Faculty Alumni Award for Excellence, the MU William T. Kemper Fellowship for Teaching Excellence and the Missouri School of Journalism O.O. McIntyre Fellowship.
