Lynda Kraxberger is a seasoned academic leader with more than three decades of experience guiding journalism education, strategic initiatives, and organizational development in higher education. As Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies at the Missouri School of Journalism, she oversees all facets of undergraduate academics, from policy leadership and curriculum innovation to budget management, faculty development, and enrollment strategy.

A proven architect of institutional advancement, Kraxberger has been a leader in the School’s strategic planning process, aligning the School with evolving industry demands and student success priorities. She has directed the School’s national accreditation efforts through multiple successful cycles with the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC) and has managed academic assessment processes that drive measurable improvements in curriculum design, learning objectives, and student career outcomes.

At various times, Kraxberger has managed operational resources including the School’s technology and equipment budgets, instructional support, as well as guiding the undergraduate scholarship process. She has extensive expertise in developing and mentoring faculty and has worked on numerous initiatives to guide professional development that fosters teaching excellence and innovation.

An advocate for cultivating future leaders in journalism, Kraxberger has chaired faculty groups, restructured academic programs, and launched first-of-their-kind courses integrating emerging technologies and cross-platform storytelling. She played a key role in modernizing the School’s curriculum, ensuring graduates are equipped with the skills required for an increasingly complex media environment.

Kraxberger’s leadership extends beyond her school to the broader campus and higher education community. She has served as a Fellow in the SEC Academic Leadership Development Program, chaired strategic initiatives such as MU’s Student Success Compact, and provided leadership for system-wide curriculum, academic policy, and enrollment management task forces. Her university service includes guiding search committees for critical leadership hires and representing the university as co-chair of the MU United Way campaign.

Prior to her academic career, Kraxberger spent more than a decade leading news production teams in commercial television markets, with her work contributing to national and regional honors from the Associated Press, Society of Professional Journalists, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and the Radio Television Digital News Association.

A recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious William T. Kemper Fellowship and the MU Faculty-Alumni Award, Kraxberger is recognized for her commitment to academic excellence, organizational leadership, and the development of the next generation of journalists and communicators.

She holds a master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Missouri and a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia, with a concentration in U.S.-Soviet relations.
